Lists of Freedoms – Independence

So much symbolism in this holiday, and at this time of year for those of us in recovery. Long days to live life to the fullest…

Independence Day for our country – it’s a birthday – take a chip, USA.

Some of the freedoms we hold dear in recovery are ideals, concepts, and things we strive for – which is also true for us as a country… progress not perfection.

But today and this month, let’s honor the freedoms we have created for ourselves – and that is MUCH to celebrate!

1. Freedom from Bondage of Self

2. Freedom from Guilt

3. Freedom from Shame

4. Freedom from Drugs, Alcohol, (Food, Gambling, Codependency)

5. Freedom from Having to hide from people

6. Freedom from Hangovers, Headaches, Heaving

7. Freedom from Icky one night stands

8. Freedom from Lies

9. Freedom from Drama

10. Freedom from Regrets, Self-recrimination

11. Freedom from Pride or Arrogance

12. Freedom from Secrets from the past

In gratitude, harmony, and support,

With this freedom I have had to create a new me. I have and continue to grow into a whole new person. A person that I don’t know. I continue to struggle with creating this new me. Freedom to choose who I want to be, how to act, new personality, grateful, love, humility and so much more. So who is this new me?

I love the way you state this – I relate to being a new person and sometimes feeling “who is this person?!” – but in a good way… In a way that feel like – hmmm I like this person, as opposed to the past when I felt a continual, ever-present sense of shame and guilt that was built in. We can feel good about loving our new selves into being, into full expression. Some days more than others, but through the spiritual principles of the program, and in my deepening relationship with my higher power which I know you have too – we can trust this process and know we are on the very right path and track. ..”new personality, grateful, love, humility and so much more…” what a powerful and positive foundation. Keep up the great work, K!

We have no idea how free we can become until we really dive into your list. Those are all forms of bondage that we need to escape. Good stuff, Lena!!
